eyes  So glad you are all here, I keep coming back to the site for confidence. we get the bone and cat results tomorrow and discuss our plan for surgery. Gleason 6 ,1 out of 12 cores positive , psa 5.9 ,nothing on the dre, I know it's our MD's protocol to do these tests but I am so anxious. Being a nurse has its real disadvantages! Rod is calm and positive, just wants to have the surgery and begin recovery! We are hoping for davinci and are lucky that it can be arranged locally. I guess that the waiting is the worst time, maybe I should have known this but I'm so on edge nothing I ever learned medically is with me right now. Please think of us, I have the greatest guy and we  will come out the other side of this,together & sooo much smarter!! :-)   nurse annie

Okay, jitters - completely normal
Forgetting your training in the throes of all of this- yep...it's a lot to digest (esp. when you love the person)
Anyway, not to take this at all lightly, your husbands numbers look very much in his favor. Hold onto that. Tomorrow will be here soon enough - tomorrow you can plan your strategy. Maybe you could bring a little recording device and if not, take notes It's funny how 2 people will hear the same information in different ways!

All the best to you both and you can be sure we'll be thinking of you & waiting to hear,

For me, the waiting/decision-making was the toughest part emotionally.

Hello Nurse Annie. I am sure your man will do just fine with plenty of love and support, of which it sounds like you are fully prepared to offer. I am glad he is ready to get the surgery done and over with so he can start on the road to recovery. This will open up new doors for the two of you, so look at it as a new chapter and one that will have an exciting ending. May the peace and grace of the Lord be with you.

Hi Nurse Annie:  I echo all the above statements, especially Danman's.  The waiting and decision making process is difficult beyond belief.

But your man's numbers look very good and, no doubt, his urologist has told you they don't expect to find anything on the bone or cat scans.  They're just being thorough in their approach and may want baseline scans for the future, which in your case, looks very bright.

Try to take it easy.  We'll wait to hear your good news on the scans and I hope you two celebrate big time when you get that good news!  My wife and I sure did.  When we got the negative results on my bone and CT scans, we went straight from the urologist's office (at about 10:30 in the morning) to a nearby bar/restaurant in Vegas and had a couple of double Blue Goose Bloody Mary's and breakfast.  I swear, it was the best breakfast I've ever had!!

Hi Annie,

It IS hard being a nurse and wife - I am in the same boat, and it is still hard at times. The (bone and CT) scans were the worst day of my life too - I think that is due to knowing all the possible outcomes and having them all cloud in with the present,  along with the memories of almost every patient you have ever known, as well! The advantage however,  is being able to speak the medical lingo and advocate if you need to, when you need to, for your husband. However take care of yourself too! Good luck and wishing the best results for you and your husband as you await the results.  The waiting is the worst as everyone says. Good luck. Lana
