I retired from the US army in the rank of Major.  Entered the Army as an Infantryman and later transferred over to Signal Corps.  Served in the Korean War 1951-52 and the Vietnam War 1968-69.  Enjoyed serving and now I enjoy living quietly with my family in El Paso Texas.  Latest employment:  sitting in the desert sun and recouperating.

Bob retired in  May 2004 after 35 years with the fire department; retired in position of Platoon Chief.

Not Retired Telecommunications Engineer/Account Executive. In Las Vegas you see a bunch of the buildings I designed the telecommunications systems for (at one point about 40%). Now I'm mostly a Rep.

Hi All,

CJ was a panel beater (car repairs in workshops) for years; then an earthmover (heavy machinary driver) for years. He also has done spray painting, welding and some building and farm/animal work. cheers, Lana

My uncle is a commercial builder. He is 68 and doesn't look like he will retire anytime soon (I wish he could)!

Printer for a university for the last 23 years...now off on disability for an arthritic thing. Also did some gruntwork in a plastics plant in my younger days. I have to confess that I have been looking for some commonality in our activities here...exposures to VOCs or stuff like that. I guess it all comes down to that great Joe Jackson tune :"Everything Gives You Cancer".

The party sounds great...one suggestion, though. Please order double the number of porta-potties, OK? Some of us can't wait too long. cool

what an interesting thread.

I have been working in the fire service for 36 years.  I am on the quick plan,  40 years and out.

My responcibilites have been as a fire fighter, Fire Prevention Chief, Fire Chief (retired) (oops young son in College) , back to work in 4 days as a Fire Prevention Chief in another Town, and now finally a Fire Marshal in another town that I hope to end my career in and finally go fishin....

Forced retirement from a major chemical & plastics research company after 32 years.
Part time home remodeling and volunteer fireman for 15 years. Now own a franchise Italian Ice/Ice Cream store.
5 months a year 100% retired (isn't enough)

Past ten years this month, Owner of a Small employee benefits company (insurance Sales/Service), ten years before that, Vice President/Sales of Health Insurance Company, Five years before that sales rep for Blue Cross And Blue Shield of Virginia and first five years out of College, Personnel and Safety Manager, third largest Utility in Virginia. Four summers in a shipyard in college, Like working for myself best!

Hi everyone.  Great thread.  I did 9 years in the Air Force during the Vietnam era spending a term at Utapao Air Base in Thailand.  Got out of the military and went to college on the GI Bill and became a CPA.  I've spent the last 22 years with the International Mission Board, a non profit organization with 5000 plus missionaries all over the world.  I currently serve as the Chief Financial Officer.  David

35 years working for the State of Ohio in jobs including a psychiatric aide at a children's psychiatric hospital, parole officer, staff attorney and bureau chief. I retired at age 50 but went back to work part-time in the State's labor relations department. I'm currently taking a break from paid employment but staying busy with volunteer work.
