I had surgery 9 days ago

73 years old

PSA 4.5

biopsy 2 out of 12 70% and <5% presurgery GS 6 no after report yet.

Robotic surgery

I cant hold a drop unless I am sitting or lying

am interested in anyone else's experience. eyes eyes

Ace06 9 days you most of just had the cathader taken out? It takes time some guys dry up very quickly others take quite so time. I am 4 months down to one pad per day. I can also hold it sitting and lying. but I don't have time for that. give it time you'll be ok and hang around alot of your question will be answered here.

How many days out of the catheter?

Was in catheter 22 days....then used 12 pads the first couple of days after catheter was removed, then gradually 10 pads, 5-6 pads.....and now only a FEW....FEW....drops daily.

Do your kegels, walk and hopefully things will get better soon.

    Ace,  Hang in there.  You are just now starting to recover from a major surgery.  Odds are on your side that you will dry up within a few months.  And if not,  you can still manage an active life and there are other options you can try.

Hang in there. I had my catheter in for 45 days, and when it was removed I thought I would never stop leaking. But after about 12 weeks I was pad free. Just give it some time, and do your Kegels.

Hi Ace,

I'm just about your age and had the open RP in 2006. It took me about 2 month (after cath removal) to become fully dry. I understand that this is not uncommon.

Best of luck for a quick and full recovery.

This is my first post. Ace - feel your frustration. Had my catheter pulled (or should I say yanked!!) yesterday and I feel like I have no control. From everything thing I've read things should improve greatly over time. Hang in there.

Hey Ace, you and I are about the same age, I had my catheter out 5/8 and am having similar experiences. From my observation on the postings I wonder if age is also a factor. I'm doing the walking and kegels but see no improvement yet. Also I've noticed that by afternoon I run out of gas and may need a nap. Yet I havn't become too discouraged yet as many have reported that it can take weeks or months.

Thanks for the replies. I never enjoyed walking alone. My Catheter was removed on Monday, 4 days ago. My surgery ( De Ventia Robotic) was performed in Arlington, Texas, USMD Hospital by Dr. Scott Thurman assisted by Dr. Green from Denver Co. (A training session I suppose) Surgery time 2hrs. 35 min. Recovery room 1hr. Dr. Thurman(very young) has performed over 300

Radical Surgeries. I have been very impressed by both Doctors and Hospital. The Hospital is owned by Physicians. tongue

Hi Ace

From my experience the improvement happens gradually for most people. Mine was pretty bad until after 12 weeks when there was a sudden improvement. Hang on in there,it takes time to heal and the muscles working.
