Hi Diana,
I am taking a four month shot of Lupron and had taken Casodex for two weeks prior to the shot and two weeks after. My first shot was on May 15, 2008. No problems or side effects for about three weeks. Libido has since taken a holiday. No big deal since I am single and not in a relationship as this time. It really does not matter since the radiation will probably put an end to it anyway. I start that this month.
Hot flashes are becoming ordinary. Usually have them in the early morning prior to starting the day. A cup of hot tea or coffee usually is followed by one or two. And having a meal seems to be followed by a hot flash for dessert. They are not really so bad as the doctors or web sites make them sound. Could have used them last winter it was a cold one.
I work out threee times a week with weights and run daily. I also have been keeping up my garden and doing some woodworking as well. My oncologists tells me that moderate exercise can prevent the bone loss and, in some cases, prevent the swelling in the breast. Of all the potential side effects the thought of the breast thing bothers me the most. Luckily I have not experienced this.
Good luck and good health to you and your husband, Rick.
Best regards,
Don
