KC9AOP, Nice list of information.
I guess the next question is........other than continuing your follow up screening with your urologist, is there anything else you can do to slow, delay or halt the progression of the PIN from transforming into a Gleason 3+3 outcome?
I don't know the answer, and I'm sure if there are some steps one could take, you'd never be quite sure how any one individual would react.
Never-the-less, I suppose thats the direction I would focus my efforts on.
I see from reading there are a few places where some mixtures of certain herbs, etc are "suggested" to be beneficial, however I also see that some of those doctors doing and reporting the research also have a interest in a company that sells a commercial version of such product.
Example the Life Extension (LEF) group has a article by Aaron E. Katz who I think is well respected, but than again I really wonder if the combination he says was tested is any better than just using some of those ingredients by themselves in a really modified diet that requires no specific branded commercial formula.

You can read the concept but not buy into the branded product I see he sells elsewhere on the internet. I tend to avoid such "special" formulas and most supplements for that matter. There are only a few "supplements" I bother with if they are really difficult to get in a really healthy diet.
Curcumin for example. Perhaps Selenium and Vit D3 in some cases. I just think the first emphasis is on overall diet rather than some special "stew" of supplements. I'd make significant changes in my overall diet before relying mostly on special supplements
I'm thinking, but don't really know, that the same steps that "might" be beneficial for someone who doesn't have biopsied PIN, are the same steps that "might" prove beneficial for someone with PIN.
But as I always add.......all of these steps if taken, only "might" have some effect. You can never tell what might work, and even after years of doing such, you will never be certain which if any steps made any difference.
Still, if most of the changes are healthy anyway, then why not.
Keep reading and finding the best path for your situation.
Selmer.
Thanks Selmer,
I agree that a whole dietary change rather than a magic pill is much more likely to be beneficial.
From what I've read, there is no prescribed course of action to "cure" PIN. It is simply wait and watch for PCa to hit. PSA and DRE twice a year and a biopsy at least once a year until PCa is found. That's a high level of attention to early detection and I appreciate that but there is nothing preventative offered at all. In addition, current data shows that it can take 5 to 10 years for PCa to hit once PIN is found. So I'm supposed to get a biopsy every year for the next decade or so? Seems a little aimless.
Some suggested that Hormone therapy or radiation could resolve the problem, but there is no study to back up the idea.
I'm going to search harder for cures as opposed to definition of the disease. I'm contacting my oncologist to discuss PIN and to get an idea of where I can find any information on curing it and keeping me from more or less assured PCa.
