Mild Burning in Urethra

Has any member treated with RP experienced burning in the urethra six or seven months out from surgery?  I went to urgent care with mild and constant (not only with urination) burning.  Lab did not find infection, but doctor gave me antibiotics anyway (Doxyclycl), which I've been taking.  The burning was mild (4 on a scale of 1 [zero feeling] to 10 [worst]) and has subsided a little, but still is there for two weeks.  I will be seeing my urologist at end of month for psa and exam, but wished to know if any of you post-RP folks have had a similar symptom. Thank you.

My numbers are quite similar to yours. Six months out from surgery, I haven't had any burning problems. I don't think burning is a common problem after RP -- your problem may be something else unrelated to the surgery.

I found that even 18 months after surgery (I was still severely incontinent then), I would experience buring if my urine became too strong. Drinking more water solved the problem every time. The doctors want to you to minimise your fluid intake in order to reduce the number of pads you use. I tried this but the buring was the greater of the two evils, so I drank more.

In case this might be useful information for someone, I had a cysto to investigate this constant and mild burning in the posterior urethra six months out from my RP.  The doctor told me that strictures (narrowing of the urethra) normally present themselves around the six-month mark.  However, the scope showed good healing, no stricture, and no other pathology.  Labs indicate that I don't have any infection.

Doc's conclusion:  the mild burning is part of the post-op healing and adjustment going on in the area of my RP.  I'm willing to go with that since no pathology has turned up in other tests.  The burning is mild and can easily be lived with.
