Hello Nan:
Even though I'm not a surgery guy I felt compelled to reply to your latest post by sending you this web address that speaks to a number of the issues you raised. The physician, Dr. Samadi, has done surgery on a number of patients who post on this forum. Now it may be that your husband's particular case would take twice as long for robotic surgery in general or it MAY be that it would just take twice as long if done by your doctor. In any case, it sure would seem wise to me - if you are set on surgery - for you to visit an experienced (250+ procedures) robotic surgeon just to make sure you have another perspective. A lot of men on this forum have gone robotic and the general sense seems to be that robotic surgery provides comparable cancer control but with fewer side effects, i.e. less blood loss, shorter hospital stay, easier recovery and more rapid return to normal urinary and sexual functions.
I don't speak from personal experience on this topic so maybe some da vinci veterans will want to weigh in.
