I wanted to start this new post to keep everyone up to date on the trial.

I started taking the drug or placibo and prednisone (10mg) on 12/2/2008.

A gentlemen that is on the trial and that is 3 months ahead of me has seen his PSA drop from 98 to .3. He IS on the drug. He is having only hot flashes as any side effect.

I will wait to make any decisions on future care or a continuation of the trial only when I have completed 2 months.

On 11/13/2009 my PSA was 9.25

On 11/18/2008 my PSA was 10.9

On 12/2/2008 my PSA was 13.78 Started trial drugs.

On 12/11/2008 my PSA was 16.94

I have been off casodex for over 6 weeks, so this may be the reason for the increase.

Right now it doesn't look like I am getting the drug, but I will be patient.

If anyone has any questions, please contact me by e-mail or post here. This trial is for all of us. Drug or placibo someone has to do it. If not me, then who?  We are all in this fight together. As I told Tony once, There is no I in team, but there are 2 off them in idiot. Only an idiot goes it alone.

Is this a phase III trial. Is the trial still open. Is this the trial that you have to fail chemo before being eligible. alt I pray that you will be getting the drug. I pray for a drop in psa. You are a mighty war-eagle.

It's great to hear you are on the trial. I have been following the news releases on this drug's trials for six months and it is the most promising prostate cancer advance "in 70 years" according to the experts.

I appreciate the attitude that you are in the trial for all of us, and we salute you.

Does the War Eagle moniker mean you are from Auburn? One of my four favorite SEC schools (along with MSU, UK and Vandy).

Just to answer a few of the questions.

Yes this is a phase III trial and you must have failed at chemo. There are around 1280 test subjects for this trial. I got lucky. I do believe there are spaces still available. It's nice to get a reward for failing at something.

The War Eagle does mean Auburn University. War Eagle is our Battle Cry. It has served me well over the years. A great school and really great people. So many traditions like the battle cry. We have Tiger Walk at games and an eagle is released from the upper deck before kickoff. After flying above the stadium, it lands at mid-field. We have two eagles. A bald eagle and a golden eagle. This re-creates the story of where the battle cry came from. A wonderful story. We have many names, Plainmen, War Eagle, and the offical name, Tigers.

I don't live in Auburn. I live in Trussville, just outside Birmingham.

Walt, I am replying to you on this post cuz its yours. Thank you so much. It is so good to have others around to help carry the burden when we are weak.
