Any one have experience with PC-HOPE treatment?

Appreciate hearing from any one having experience with PC-HOPE, the alternative treatment (herbal treatment).

Dx Sept. 08, PSA 6.6, Gleason 3+4=7

Following a lot of reading and research, wasn't comfortable with conventional treatment. Started PC-HOPE treatment in Nov. 08, Blood test in Dec. 08 show PSA drop to 2.2. Now on PC-HOPE, the maintenance protocol.

PC-HOPE or PC-SPES is shown in the link below at the American Cancer Society web site.  It claims to be an alternative to conventional treatment, but it's ingredients are relatively common.  In some cases, PC-HOPE was packaged with DES or other estrogenic active ingredients, but those were pulled because those are prescription ingredients.  It is also packaged with sellenium which has shown the ability to promote aggresive refractory disease in clinical studies.

Another important note: according to the FDA, PC-HOPE has been proven to hinder PSA testing.  ACS and FDA both have issued concerning statements about these products.  But studies have found some benefit in hormone refractory PCa which you probably don't have.  Versions of this product have been banned in the US for containing prescription medication.  The original company that made this product is no longer in business.

As I always say about those hoping for a cure through suppliments alone ~ be very careful you don't make things worse.  These companies are not required to document when they do, and PSA is not a good surrogate when it get's masked.  Therefore, additional tests are needed to verify the cancer is not progressing.

Over the years there have been many herbal solutions to Pca offered.  Some people outright reject the possibility that herbs can cure cancer, while others agree that it is possible. I am sort of in the middle.  I personally would never substitute herbal therapy over direct medicine to treat prostate cancer.

My youngest daughter is a well respected herbalist, accupuncturist and doctor of oriental medicine. She has told me that she would never offer any herbal remedies claiming to cure prostate cancer.  She does believe that she can offer her patients several herbs that will lessen symptoms and promote healthy conditions. It is important to recognize that herbs can have certain positive effects on the prostate, but there is no conclusive evidence that they have cured  prostate cancer.

Good luck with your treatment.  I see that you are also having a doctor monitor your condition.  That is a very good idea.

I agree it is not a panacea (I am with you Tony) however, for those guys whom took this drug years ago(era of 2002-2004 approx.) I heard from some of thos on PC-SPES and they did well on it and were happy with their results via psa testings, side effects etc. (incurable folks with rising psa numbers...look for anything that may work, even it it is for months or years)-who can blame them. It is true that the marketers of PC-SPES did not disclose whatever was in it and was found out later and legally they needed an FDA approval to use Rx drugs in an herbal 'gig'.

I don't know about PC-Hope and would also question its value and risks/rewards, after PC-SPES got the axe it would make you wonder about PC-Hope is this deja vu for unknown drugs hidden within it???  PCa world is different in every angle you can see it from.

Dr Pfeifer uses "prostasol" as one part of his protocol which claims to have a good success rate with advanced prostate cancer cases.

A number of men who post on the natural treatments forum of health.groups.yahoo also use "prostasol".  Some indicate they have obtained good long term results, although I do not think any claim to have "cured" their prostate cancer with it: they use it on an ongoing basis.

I tried PC Spes for about a year in 2003. It did nothing to stop my psa from rising. The only thing I got was tender nipples and less money in my pocket.

PC-Hope is one of the biggest scams on herbal prostate meds. BAD PLACEBO !!! First of all it is cream not tablets, secondly it does not work at all. Also, PS Hope has nothing to do with PC SPES, even though they claim it !!!

The effect is the same as if you put Nivea cream on your skin, actually, Nivea is better, at least give you hydratation.
Third, they do not return money as it is advertised ... when I asked for money back, they refused it !!!

PC HOPE it is a big lie,a way too big ! They write all feedbacks and , and "positive" results on forums by himself.

If you analise those posts, what I did, it is easy to see its is written by one person !

We spent almost $1000 for a few months supply with a ZERRO effect. PSA was doubling more than ever. Also, they try to convince me no other therapy needed.
Yes, to be dependant on their placebo, on false hope, and put more money in their pockets...
SHAME, SHAME !!!

Please do not spent money on that crap. I just would like to know where the soul of those distributors will go after earning money on someones illness and false hope !
Losing time and money...please spread a word via internet. Do not spent money on it !

What a scam (PC-Hope), I mean. When desperate people seek desperate means, they are making themselves a target for this kind of nonsense. It's simple, there are no natural mircale cures that are going to stop or slow down PC or any other kind of cancer. I don't know why folks just can't get that through their heads. Buyer beware, is always good advice.
