AUS 800 deactivated for hip surgery today.

Pete is having the artificial sphincter deactivated for the hip surgery this morning. We are having a urologist do the deactivation with a scope and putting the catheter in before the surgery is done....We were worried that the surgery would not go through because Pete had a UTI last week, but we got the news that it cleared yesterday...So the surgery is this morning.......He is very eager for it to be over and to work....Being wet and with a painful hip has been the pits....Hopefully, everything will go well, and in a few days he can reactivate the AUS.....(which by the way seems to be working much better.....So he will be dryer and free of the horrible hip pain.. Things are looking up...... Di :-)

Wishing Pete a very successful surgery and be able to move forward in life with less pain and the being dry. My prayers will be for both of you today.

Good luck with the hip replacement. May it be as successful as possible and become pain free. You are both due a break and a run of good luck.

    Divo,  Glad you are going to get that hip taken care of.  I never thought of having a urologist deactivate the AUS and install a cathiter prior to going in for surgery.  I will remember that if I ever have a need for any more surgeries.

    Wish you a speedy recovery...so you can "flip the switch back on".

We are thinking of you and Pete...My VP at my company had a arthroscopic knee surgery a month ago, and his wife had a hip replacement two weeks later...He said she is doing better than he is. I hope for Pete to have the same experience...with his hip that is....:-)

Thanks so much to everyone for the kind and gracious words....We have a lot of gentlemen and ladies on this site! I am printing your emails out and taking the words to Pete tonight at the hospital. He is doing great, and the doctors said he will have a new life again. The AUS will be reactivated Monday.... AND I took our therapy dog, Donnie, AKA Don Juan into the hospital for a visit with Pete. Very nice. I wish I could send you a picture..!!

On another note, our new neighbor just told me that he is having a biopsy next week. I directed him to this site, and then printed out the first email I saw from "Confusion" Thanks to Zufus, KCragman, Purgatory,Livinadream, don826, and real ziggy.....he will get some good advice. He was very happy to get the print out....
