Ugggh, life is such a roller coaster ...

For those still keeping up with my intermittent posting, my husband's Oncologist confirmed his 0.39 PSA reading - whooo hooo - she shook his hand and congratulated him then she dropped the bomb ...

She's leaving - not just leaving the hospital - leaving the province ... if we could follow her we would but we're in Ontario and she's going to British Columbia :(

I guess the silver lining is that we consider ourselves extremely fortunate that my husband's cancer was found while she was still practicing in our province - she is an absolutely wonderful doctor and I will miss her terribly - Ontario's loss is British Columbia's gain ...

Yeah , BC is a little bit far from Ontario. It hurts when you lose a doctor that you have that much faith and confidence in. Is she leaving you in the hands and care of someone hopefully as competent?

I didn't meet the new doctor but my husband obviously did - "hands on" so to speak.  He's been training with her for about a year but this is the first we've seen of him.  I wish we had a direct line of communication with her to use as a "consult" but that just isn't feasible ...

Great news! Awful news. I know the loss of a good doc. Mine left to return to Texas 3 months after mu surgery and I haven't been totally satisfied with his replacement since. But really glad to see the number confirmed..

Yea!!! Dang it!
At least she worked her magic already and you can reap the benefits of having had her. There are many good doctors, and I am sure you will get another. But best yet, keep 'em bored! Keep a low PSA and all they have to do is let you know things are OK...

JustJulie- can I ask what his nadir psa number was? Nadir meaning his lowest psa number post (after) radiation/brachy seed (or any treatment)? Usually for radiations it can take awhile to reach lowest psa (fyi for others), it is not instant cell death on radiation . The lower the nadir the better, assuming you had a nadir and now is higher some.

The one good thing I've discovered about good Physicians is that others will learn from them during their practice at any given location. There is bound to be another pretty close. Congrats on a good check up :>)
