My dad has PC - HELP, Im' SO scared...

Hello Bounty, so glad that the bonescan is clear, that is usually the case, but we all have the same fear till you get the test back. Surgery or Radiation are the usual two most common choices, zufas above is right in that there are other options on the table. I am old school, and wanted the gold standard, that is, surgery first, and then if it ever came back, I could opt for radiation as a back up. Most surgeons will tell you, that if you do radiation first, and it fails, that salvage surgery is often a disaster with very bad side affects. Most urolological surgeons won't perform salvage surgeries for that very reason. With the surgery, your choice is robotic which it seems more and more men are getting, or traditional open like I and some others had. Some of that choice has to do with your father's general health and other factors. There are some here that have had the radiation seeding done, treatments with hormones, and conventional radiation. While I feel strongly that your father's PC dx is serious, you should not rush to some instant solution without going through all the available options, and ultimately choose what is in his best interest for now and for his future. Hello again!

My farther went to see the doctor yesterday. He is really in a bad mood right know, because the doctor was so cold and negativ... 

The bone scan was clear, and know he is waiting for an operation (the 23 of february) to see if the cancer has spread to lymphs. WHAT IF it has??? His PSA is 11, is that a good sign??

You have already received a lot of excellent information, but I just wanted to add a little hope.    

I just joined this forum, as my cancer has returned again after RP surgery, and radiation.  

The hopeful part is, my surgery was 19 years ago, and I still feel wonderful at the age of 75. 

I feel fortunate, but it also says that your dad could outlive the post operative life that I plan  on having. 

You need to listen to some of these people that are more informed on the newer treatments than I am.

I do want to wish and pray for your dad to have the best outcome, regardless what treatments he has.

PS  I loved the time I spent in Denmark, but this was back in the 1950's.   It was a beautiful country with beautiful people to visit with.
