I have just been diagnosed with prostate cancer and am in the process of trying to find doctors in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Tx area that are experienced and skilled in performing a 'robotic radical prostatectomy'.  I am trying to do my research and would be extremely thankful if someone could recommend a doctor or team of doctors that perform this type of surgery.  I have researched the open surgery option and now would like to consider the robotic option.  Thanks.  :-)

69ski...Welcome to HealingWell...sorry you even had to come here, but you will find lots of good advise and information here.

Now for your question...I used the Urology Clinics of North Texas at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. I absolutely would recommend the hospital and the surgery department and my doctor if you want to go the robotic route.

I know that Steve-in-Dallas used another surgeon that I also was considering at first and he has the name of his doctor in his signature...I am sure he will chime in shortly...but that is another well known surgeon in the area.

He operates in Arlington and Plano @ Baylor....His main office is in Las Colinas but he also makes appointments at his Arlington or Plano office.

I really like him...His main nurse Jackie is pretty to get a hold of too. He gave me his personal cell phone number the day he took the catheter out..That still rings good to me even though I didn't need to use the number.

Dr Fagin in Austin is one of the countries foremost DiVinci surgeons - you will find all about him simply by keying his name in search. I traveled from San Antonio to Austin. They are use to out-of-town patients (most are) and have their routine for distance traveling guests down. The hospital used, and everyone associated is at the top of their game.

I used Dr. Vipul Patel at Florida Hospital in Orlando. One of the world's best at robotic PC surgery. Men fly in from all over the world for his expertise. He and his team treated me wonderfully.

Don't know where you are but I can highly recommend Dr. Polascik at Duke Medical Center. The entire team is first rate.

I would highly recommend Dr. Claus Roehrborn, head of urology at UT Southwestern. He was very highly recommended and we were very pleased.
