Reading the thread on the life insurance topic today, reminded me of one good fortune that happened in my case with the PC. For years, my wife insisted on keeping this Aflac Cancer policy on the both of us, didn't cost her much a month, and she forgot all about
it till about
a month after my PCa dx.
It pays direct to us, not to the drs, hospitals, etc, for "out of pocket" expenses. So far, including my dx, surgery, 4 days in the hospital, has paid to us over $5,000 and still more to come. Not much perhaps, but it has helped us get by with all of this.
I also considered most of the supplementary insurances to be a waste of time and money, this is one time I am glad my wife didn't listen to me.

P.S> Much to my amazement, they actually pay fast, we got a recent large check 5 days after my wife faxed them the paperwork.
