I visited the urologist last Friday, for the purposes of gathering info concerning implant/ligament surgery. Here is what I found out:
Cutting of the suspensory ligament is now a somewhat common procedure for penile lengthening. Normally, rehab includes using weights to stretch the penis. Otherwise, the ligament will heal back as before with no results. However, with an implant, weights are not an option. In lieu of weights, a vacuum pump can be used to obtain similar results.
The Dr. cannot tell me what to expect, lengthwise, from the procedure. I had read that it depended on how large you were to start with (larger men will gain more length from the procedure than smaller men. Most info on the subject suggests between 1-2 inches.) The Doctor tells me that the determining factor is not how large you currently are, but how tethered the ligament is. A tightly tethered ligament will allow for more lengthening, while some ligaments may already be loose and therefore not allow any lengthening.
After the ligament has been cut, I will not point up anymore, but I will not point down towards the floor either. Instead, I will point straight out.
He is also planning to install an AMS 700 LGX implant. The LGX will, supposedly, expand another 20% over time, with pumping. Personally, I have lost 1 1/2 to 2 inches, and he feels with the LGX and the ligament procedure, that I will regain all that's been lost.
More general info for those interested:
I am supposed to pump as much as I can from now till the surgery, as well as for 6 months following surgery.
The surgery requires a one night stay in the hospital.
I was told to expect to miss about one week of work.
I may resume regular activity in four weeks, sex in 6-8 weeks.
The LGX is a newer device, and the doc expects that it will last longer than the usual 10 years.
Dr. is Dean Knoll, Nashville.
My surgery is scheduled for April 16.
Any input/feedback from those with experience is certainly appreciated.
