We just got back from Portland, OR this morning where my husband had the testing done for the seed implant.  He had a volume study, he was a little apprehensive about it, and came through fine.  His only comment was "they have your feet up in stirups and  this thing up your butt and two cute little female residents and one Dr. are all staring at it. "  He said it didn't really hurt, just uncomfortable.  I'll bet.  I told him "welcome to my world".   Women always seem to have their feet in stirrups at Dr's offices.

He has the seed implant in Portland on the 20th.  He was treated so well up at Oregon Health Sciences and we really like his Dr.  Worth the 5 hour drive, that's for sure. 

We'll let you know how the seed implant goes.

We're on the other side of the Brachytherapy table - successful surgery and return to a "normal" life.  Please keep us posted and best wishes for a comfortable surgery.

Glad the volume study went well...to tell the truth, that was the worst part of my brachytherapy experience!  My wife also gave me the "welcome to my world" commentary - LOL -  after hearing my description!

I'm also well on the other side...not as far over as Julie...but 3 months next week.  All has gone amazingly well, with really no sexual or urinary sides.  Yeah, the sexual sides may come later...but, for now, all is well!

So, good luck.  I'll be thinking of you and please let us know how it goes.  As a suggestion, maybe you could start a "Duckfan's Brachytherapy Journey" so newbies will see how yours goes along with Julies and mine.  There are only a few of us seeds here, so other persepective is welcome.

Yes, that's a good idea to start a journal.  There really aren't many brachytherapy people out there so it is good information to those that want to go that route.  My husband was pretty relieved that he's so close to this journey being over.  Of course, he knows there may be side effects but he's pretty sick of Dr appointments.  Between his Multiple Sclerosis and this it's constant. 

He just started Flomax today.  He gets most of his meds from the VA and they wouldn't approve the Flomax.  He's been on a generic drug that I can't spell.  The Flomax was quite expensive.  No wonder the VA won't approve it.

Hello Duckfan,

Glad your husband made it through the first part fine. I agree with the others, lets have a nice journal, it will be educational for us and for anyone else contemplating "seeding", since it is not the most common path here.

From what I understand, the generic of Flomax works just as well as the real thing, so that should be ok.

I think you are on the right path with your husband, especialy considering the added complexity of his MS.

Yeah this is PR for Dattoli and probably comparitively RCOG and other treatment centers doing comparitively the same or similar protocols. But, looks pretty good and great to hear of course, especially when you figure in the high risk patients that also do this protocol.
