Hi all,
My Diagnosis after the prostate biopsy was a low-grade cancer. My PSA was only 4.8, compared to one person in this forum who had a PSA of 19.8 Pre-surgery!!! The doctor thought that with my father having prostate cancer, that I should have the surgery now, because in 20 or 30 years, I may not be a candidate for such surgery.
I'm 54 years old. I had the radical surgery on January 12th, 2009. I was supposed to be kept overnight, but because of the urethra sutured to the bladder leakage problem, they kept me over for nine days, I went home with my two new buddies, the Jackson-Pratt (JP) bag and the foley catheter, for about
seven weeks,
until they removed it,thinking the leaks were mostly not a problem and it would heal on it's own.
Adenocarcinoma of Prostate, Acinar Type-
Gleason's Score: 3+4 / Bilateral / Approx. 10% of gland Involvement / Perineural Invasion:Present / Lymphatic Invasion:Absent / Extraprostatic Extension: Absent / margins: negative for Malignancy / Then it goes on about
the Seminal Vesicles,Bladder neck, and Vasa Deferentia, being negative for malignancy. If it's all malignant, why in the heck did he take it all out?
This was a nerve-sparing surgery, so he told me. Most of what he removed was on the right side. Does that mean I can get a half of an erection?
I haven't been on here but a few times since my surgery, dealing with the "Diaper" issues, (Down to 2 per day) None at bedtime. I'm also doing the Kegles, but not so much worrying about
the erection issues, even though I tried it once, ok maybe twice, (FOR MEDICAL REASONS ONLY
I had bleeding in the urine problems, and wanted to know if it would bleed, No it didn't) and the doc was right, no erection, but intense orgasm...dry, and very weird. I hope I get some of this back. he has me on 25MG Viagra daily, he told me this should help kick-start the blood flow (if anything left) He also said I can do injections or use a pump. I have previously posted more on the prostate thing in this forum under my username.
If anyone has similarly gone through the same thing, please post....please. Especially the viagra thing....Does this really help us with our kind of surgeries?
Insurance does not cover this and these little blue pills are very expensive...CVS Drugs-$16.00 each 100mg pill. And Costco is $13.00 ea.
Thank you!
