PSA test after sexual activity

Is it possible for a PSA result to be falsely elevated by as much as 1 point due to recent sexual activity?

One whole point? I suppose on what is encompassed with the term sexual activity. intercourse with ejaculation should not raise PSA by a whole point, but it depends on the ....uh...aggressiveness perhaps. then of course, if there is substantial direct stimulation of the prostate, a rise of that much is entirely possible. Without getting into real specifics, it's hard to answer that.

No . . . regular old husband/wife sex - nothing too aggressive. PSA in urology office in 12/08 was 1.93. PSA in family doc office in 04/09 (turning 50 physical) was 2.9 and when retested came back 3.4 with %free PSA of 15%. The test was done on a Monday after a good weekend with a couple of ejaculations. Urologist is waiting until May 13 to do another PSA. Have had PSAs done since 2005 and have not once been told to avoid ejaculation for 48-72 hours prior to test. Thanks.

After a weekend like that , who cares what the god-darn PSA reads.
