Hi to all,

   I am new to this site and I was wondering if anyone could give me info on nerve endings. My husband had radical prostate removel without nerve sparing, 2 years ago last March and he has been experiencing a lot of very strong tingling sexual feelings down there for about 4 months. He can feel more firmness and he is a lot warmer to the touch, but no erections. He uses the VED to stretch things out, but is unable to take viagara because it totaly knocks the stuffing out of him for a couple of days. And when he did use the viagra it did nothing for an erection. I have not been able to find any info on this subject and was hoping someone could fill in the blanks.

 

  about a year ago he used the VED and a sleeve and twice we were able to have intercource. We thought we had things almost back to normal. But he has not been able to repeat it again. Not sure what happened there. Any ideas?

 

  He looked into the injections and is unable to get an appointment until sometime in August.

Need help !!!!   We have a 45th wedding aniversary coming this July.

Any help is very much appreciated

Welcome, there are a few possible explanations for renewed nerve feeling.  It is a good sign, and though it probably doesn't signal a recovery it does show improvement.

Injections have been the answer for many of us here.  You might do a search (click at top of this page) of previous discussions and you will find many stories that you will find encouraging.  Caverject (alprostadil) usually works, but is often accompanied by discomfort.  The pharmacy prepared bi-mix works for me and will probably be my answer for the rest of my life. :-)     Good luck and try to move that August appointment up a bit.

I had non nerve sparing surgery 4 months ago. I didn't take any of the ED medications since they really don't help much in my case. I did start the VED and had little success in maintaining an erection for any reasonable length of time. I have started using trimix injection at .2 cc dosage and it has worked for me most of the time. It does take some stimulation. Your husband will have to experiment with what dosage works for him. As far as the nerve endings, someone on this forum mentioned that nerves regenerate at the rate of 1/2 inch per month, what exactly that leads to I don't know.

My surgeon said the nerves grow back and it takes one year plus or minus a few months.  Try taking a smaller dose of viagra, cut the pill into quarters.

Greetings, Greatful wife.  I don't have much experience with the injections but there have been several guys and their wives here who relayed very positive experiences with trimix and bimix.  Also, if you are trying the oral meds, have you considered Levitra or Cialis?  I understand they work somewhat differently than Viagra and the side effects can be less onerous.  I have never tried Viagra but have both Cialis and Levitra with minimal side effects. 

You give me great hope - knowing that after 45 years the desire is still there.  My wife and I will soon hit 36 and are looking forward to the next 9 and many more beyond that!  Thanks for the encouragement.  David
