TSFFZ,
I never stopped using a light per day. My leaks were minor, yet warranted a pad to keep from a visible embarrassing situation. I did not dribble prior to surgery, which is why it was so hard to put up with the post surgery leaking. The ED thing was never a big deal for me so I got to concentrate on the 'other' side effect. Post surgery I leaked most often when I spread my legs to climb up into our SUV, sat "Indian style" on the floor, lifted certain things, finished a shower and got to enjoy being fresh for about a minute before leaking some on the bathmat :(, and sometimes for no reason at all other than to soil a fresh pair of underwear :). As much as I told myself it was a good trade off vs having cancer, it still gets under your skin.
Now I am almost completely dry. Minor traces at the end of the day indicate residual urine fell out, but not leakage as before. See earlier portion of this thread for the reason. I am padless and planning on staying that way. My stream has decreased in the mornings, which surprises me and the doc. It does increase during the day. There is a 'different' feeling when you 'have to go' - I haven't found the words to best describe the sensation. It's not a pain but rather a slight ache along the urethra prior to urination. I also have to go frequently. This has been going on since the original prostatectomy. I joke that I have the bladder of a 5 year old. My beer drinking buddies are used to it. Everyone knows that I know where all the restrooms are when we go anywhere.
Regarding the sling surgery, I will be 5 weeks out next Tuesday. Healing well with no complications. Hair is growing back and that always causes itching. Baby powder is great. Still numb along incision site and lower part of scrotum. I hate that word, anybody know a better one?
Feel free to ask anything. I'll check back when I can. I'm sure there's stuff I am forgetting to mention.
