Greetings, everyone. I had the privilege of attending this 2d Annual event tonight at the Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach. My wife and I decided kind of at the last minute to spend a few days in Myrtle Beach. Coming down, I heard on ESPN radio about
a celebrity golf tournament and gala dinner to raise funds for prostate cancer research. When I heard it was at Kingston Plantation and we were staying at a Kingston Plantation property we decided to check it out. Come to find out it was quite an event - golf tourney and gala dinner. I asked the concierge about
the event and she did some checking and found out it was all tied together - you had to sign up for the golf tourney and the dinner together. When I mentioned I was a prostate cancer survivor, they invited my wife and I to the dinner. Very nice event - all together raised about
$200,000. Host of the golf tourney was Jim Boeheim - himself a prostate cancer survivor and a very nice gentlemen. We talked several minutes tonight at the dinner. Host of the dinner was Mitch Laurance, also a prostate cancer survivor. Craig T. Nelson was there and also an unbelievably nice guy - talked with him several minutes. Others included Bobby Cremins, Rick Cerone, Thad Daber, Shane Ferguson, Doug Flynn, Dan Hampton, Brevin Knight, Ewa Laurance, Branford Marsalis, Wes Matthews, Brad Redding, Charie Rymer and Tony Womack. Just an outstanding event. They say it was bigger this year than last and they plan to do a series of these around the nation.
Just wanted you to know that there are people out there who are very interested in prostate cancer research and are doing something about it. I am grateful to have been a part of the evening and to all of the 300 or so people who contributed to a great event. David
