You might be travelling unecessarily. If all is well you basically, will be telling him just that. But I don't fault his follow up visit. If I were you I'd ask about any new news for a stage 3 guy like yourself. Since you have not had a recurrance then he will likely tell you status quo is the best move. But asking what he thinks should be a good question. I am certain you know much more about this disease than you did a year ago, so if anything, try to use the time constructively.
Just a note: I have not seen my surgeon since my surgery. We spoke on the phone after surgery, that's when he gave me the bad news, and that was the last time I saw or spoke to him. Technically, I don't need him anymore. He was a great surgeon, and he did what I needed him to do. My case is now with an oncologist, and he will be with me until I don't need him any more...
