My surgery was in May 2008 and my follow-up with the surgeon was in mid-July 2008. I traveled for this surgeon and so my PSA tests have occurred through a local uro. When I had the follow-up in July 2008, the surgeon told me to come back to see him in a year. I originally had an appointment in early August 2009; however, his office rescheduled me for September 1 (tomorrow).

Anyway... I was wondering what I can expect at this appointment and would appreciate any thoughts or experiences from guys ahead of me in this journey. I seem to be doing well, excellent PSA scores, total continence, natural erections (better with Viagra or Cialis) so I'm just curious what is likely to happen tomorrow morning. Thanks...

You might be travelling unecessarily. If all is well you basically, will be telling him just that. But I don't fault his follow up visit. If I were you I'd ask about any new news for a stage 3 guy like yourself. Since you have not had a recurrance then he will likely tell you status quo is the best move. But asking what he thinks should be a good question. I am certain you know much more about this disease than you did a year ago, so if anything, try to use the time constructively.

Just a note: I have not seen my surgeon since my surgery. We spoke on the phone after surgery, that's when he gave me the bad news, and that was the last time I saw or spoke to him. Technically, I don't need him anymore. He was a great surgeon, and he did what I needed him to do. My case is now with an oncologist, and he will be with me until I don't need him any more...

With a full year of 0.0's perhaps you should ask if he has the forms that let you apply to be a poster boy for RRP. Seriously, this looks great, congratulations and thanks for the encouragement to those of us not as far along the trail.

Just one slightly down remark. Don't let up on continued regular PSA tests.
