I keep telling everyone I know to get checked and keep track of your numbers each year and they keep trivializing the test and the cancer itself telling us that most of us will die from something else 1st.

montee, i am with you all the way.

tell the widows, sons and daughters, and grand children of the still some 28,000 men that die a year from prostate cancer how easy pc is, and how its the good cancer, and how you have loads of time.

i am all about early testing, base line at 40 for most, younger for those with it in their families and for our african-american friends.

my two sons have promised to have a base line psa done at 35. i trust that they will.

I'm on board. 

The family docs need to advocate for their patients and not worry about what the insurance industry says.  I was glad to get a referal to the Uro this past winter.  It may have saved me a lot of anguish.

The study that I just read

is, in my opinion, likely the efforts of an ivory tower academic group who needed to get published. It does a grave disservice to the lay public in general, and I condemn it for that. Certainly, I think any man with an elevated PSA has a right to choose any or no course of treatment. BUT, he first must get and follow his PSAs to make an intelligent choice. Anything or anyone who discourages PSAs in, to my mind, at least ignorant.

I to saw on the news last night where they are saying that we are over testing for PCa. Well, I, like many waited to long and I was only 45 when diagnosed with advance PCa. I believe we should begin testing at 40 with the hopes of catching this disease early. We will keep shouting our message from the rooftops.
