The old sailor has a new topic. Good news is I am fully continent at night however I have to urinate about every 1-1.5 hours during the night. Daytime seems to be OK. Will this need of urgency settle down in next week or so because I'm not getting much good sleep. Because of the burning at urination, I had a urinalysis yesterday at Mayo Clinic and they said I will know tomorrow if there is a urinary tract infection (culture has to grow??)


I asked if the surgical report said "nerve sparing" and the nurse said yes - so thats good.

Greetings, Old Sailor.  I had almost the same issue.  I was getting up 4 or 5 times a night to urinate.  My surgeon said that sometimes the bladder gets out of its normal shape and there can be some concave places on the bladder for prostate cancer patients.  He prescribed a drug called Detrol LA that helps the bladder relax and regain its normal shape.  After I started taking Detrol LA I went down to only getting up 1 time and on occasion 2 times and even on occasion sleeping through the night.  You might ask your doc about this.  David

CPA, I also had encapsulated but I was a 4+5 which is aggressive and of course concerns me.  Margins, everything else negative so I'm hoping I get can all zeros like you.

I will mention dextrol la tomorrow when I talk to the doctor.
