Just got out of the hot tub, something I couldn't do many times because of endless catheters. Been reviewing my written list of questions for the morning, when I will meet with the 3rd radiation oncologist since late July. The first one treated me 9 plus years ago, but was moving of my area from a practical point of view. The 2nd one, though had a good reputation and lots of experience, rubbed me wrong a few times, sounded too much like a game show host, and wasn't a good fit for me. Tommorow, I meet with the only woman one in my area. She comes highly recomended to me by a woman I know well who has been having a terrible time with breast cancer.
I do plan to give her a clean slate. She has consulted, twice to my knowledge, with my uro/surgeon, who brought her up to speed on my case and some of my quirky situations, i.e. the blockage problems. I am hoping it works out, because in a limited resource area with limited financial means, I don't have a whole lot more to choose from. I am already working with the only radiation clinic in a 100 plus mile area of where I live, and have been pre-approved by my health insurance company.
If anyone can think of any good questions I should ask, please fire away. I see here at 0930 in the morning, then off to a formal job interview at 1230. Has all the makings of an interesting but stressful day.
If the new doctor checks out, she may be the one to push me over the decision point to start salvage radiation.
