Let's not play this down -- you have identified the right reasons to worry. On the other hand, we have seen members with nothing on biopsies until the third time, so it is just as possible that you biopsy found all the cancer sites. Luck works both ways. The Gleason 6 is good and with so many hits has to be seen as even better -- Not an aggressive cancer. So take heart -- if you look at the nomograms, the number of hits doesn't seem to matter and so the odds are very much in your favor. Get working on good diet, exercise, kegels and a positive attitude.
Some members have recommended a lot of exercise for the gland before it goes -- can't hurt.

Let's break it donw to good news. The Gleason 6 is very good news at this point. Your PSA is modest at this point. So those two things work well in your favor. The 10/12 positive cores, depends if they struck pay dirt on your biopsy, and hit right where the cancer was primarily located, or if there is more. No way of knowing that until after you have removed prostate to examine after your surgery.

It took 3 biopsies with me, and on the last one, it was 7/7 positive, high percentage cancer.

Seems to me your worst case is you got a lot of not such bad stuff. I know it isn't a trade off, but that sure sounds better to me than a little bit of really nasty stuff.

If it was a trade off I'd be bidding my seven for your six and throwing in a Maui condo as a sweetner. Of course, I don't have a Maui condo, but to be rid of my seven and get a six I'd engage in a little larceny. I know you're still going to fret about the ten, and the 75% and I would too, but any surgeon is going to be anxious to get their hands on you --- you'll make their 25 year stats look good.

Jack, As others have siad G6 is good looks like you have a good amount in that walnut. As Sheldon mentioned any good surgeon is going to hang his hat on making you an example of success.

I do understand your concerns they are justified. We all have been there with our diagnosis and path reports.

As long as all the marbles are still in the bag, doesn't really matter how many marbles there are. Here's hoping for a clean surgery, with negative margins and no EPE.

Worrying won't really help much. You need to be positive. Enjoy that prostate to the max until your date with Ms. DaVinci. Take off for a long weekend or something. Leave the driving to the doctor at this point.

I'll second Goodlife's suggestion. You always get better results with an empty prostate. (That's what we all tell our wives anyway.)

Greetings, Jack.  As others have said the number of hits just means your doc was lucky and found it.  Your PSA is still very reasonable so if you have to have cancer - and it looks like you do - then yours seems to be very treatable.  I know that is easy for someone else to say.  I remember my days when I first found out and all kinds of things are going through your mind.  Even though it's impossible to actually do let me agree with some of my brothers here and say use this time to figure out your plan of attack and at the same time to relax.  Start getting ready for your treatment - whether that is surgery or whatever you decide.  Please keep us posted and let us know if we can help in any way along this path.  David
