Valentines 2010 Weekend Update

Well here it is November 8th and Valentines 2010 is just a short 3 months away. I thought maybe we should have a little chat about the proposed gathering in Orlando over the Valentines Day Weekend.

I have been talking to various folks here about the weekend and trying to gather some financially saving ways to do things. You know like reduced lodging, dedicated bus to the coast for a day cruise aboard the gambling ship, meeting room space, discount or FREE theme park passes, etc.

What I am running into is their reluctance to give me some specifics unless I can tell them how many folks we expect.

I realize that planning is difficult for many of us, but unless we can nail it down a little, I don't know how we can pull it off.

Personally, I would not want to go somewhere for a 4-5 day weekend gathering, if I had no idea where I was going to stay (and the cost) what I was going to do, or who I was going to do it with.

Maybe I am trying to organize too much, if so let me know and we'll just leave it open and figure it out when whoever shows up gets here.

So let's talk about it and see if it is still a viable plan or not.

As you have seen from my own recent posts, I may have to make a decision whether or not to start radiation treatment and how soon. If so, I would like to do as much as I can before I may enter into a time of reduced energy and drive.

All of that being said; If this year, or this soon in the year, is just not going to work, let's look for a time and place for gathering just because I think many of us would like to meet face to face.

Tell me what you think, the clock is ticking and this kind of thing can't happen over night.

Thanks Jeff. I think we'll probably know by the end of this thread whether it is a go or not.

I don't think we can go into December not knowing and still have time to make arrangements here and for those coming to make their arrangements.

Some of the lucky stiffs (no ED pun intended) like me (don't work) can go at the drop of the hat. I would guess that many more work and have families at home and would have to schedule around those things. Planning for them requires a lot more time.

I wont make it this year as any travel of over 1 hour is still too much. Take some pictures if you can and send them into snpafish or someplace else. It would be nice to put a face with a signature.

Previously I told you the wife and I would be there. However, now I'm scheduled for RT ending around Feb 20, so it will be impossible. Sorry.

Roger and Michael...I am trueloy sorry that you guys will not be able to make the gathering....I plan to take some pics. Will find a way to post for you guys to match up faces with names.

Greetings, Sonny.  My wife and I still plan to attend.  Even if you decide to postpone until a later date, we will be there for another event the Thursday through Saturday prior to Valentines day so even if we don't have a big group we'd love to get together for a meal somewhere and get to know you in person.  David

I haven't discussed this with my wife yet but I would like to go. I'm currently in Sydney Australia until 11/18 so I'll try to convince her then. We are both retired so, any date you come up with will be fine.

Worried Guy I must tell you....I accepted the first invitation so I will be Jeff 1... you will have to be Jeff 2. lol
