Ya Gotta Read This......

I know that most of you are aware of a "miraculous" discovery in May that seemingly cured two men that had metastatic PCa. This is an article from the Mayo Clinic that gives more information:

Can we be on the verge of finding a cure for PCa, as well as other hormonal dependant cancer (or at least a treatment that may extend life significantly, without dire quality-of-life concerns)????

If this has already been discussed extensively, I apologize.

I have to wonder in a clinical trial, why would one need to have a control group here? We all know the outcome of metastatic cancer---anything that would clear out the tumors and lower the psa would be a huge success. I am hoping that a lot of focus and effort goes forward on this immediately and I would spearhead a nation-wide effort to help get private money for funding. I will be doing some homework and sending out some e-mails SOON.

An interesting result, especially for our brothers with advanced PC (for everyone else -- screening, screening, screening)

This study shows a way of getting a tremendous boost to the effectiveness of hormone therapy. One issue will be is this knocking out the cancer, or just knocking it down for a while?


Now comes the longer part of the research. Particularly the enumeration of risks and side effects. With patients like those described here, the risk from their cancer is so high that a lot of treatment risk is acceptable.
