Good Final Pathology Report

Ok. As to the subject of ….final pathology I respectfully submit the following.

Originally I had a Gleason of 6. Post operative pathology has been upgraded to a hard Gleason 7. That is to say 4+3 as opposed to 3+4. This would be enough to justify having the surgery because until you get all the tissue out you never really know? This upgrade in pathology happens I have been told in about 30% of cases.

Gleason 7 was present is all 4 quadrants of the prostate. 

The absolutely great news is that ALL the cancer has been removed. Final pathology indicates that NO, 0, Nada, extension of cancer from the prostate exist. Seminal vesicles are tumor free. 4 out of 4 periprostatic lymph nodes are cancer free. 10 out of 10 pelvic lymph nodes are cancer free. All surgical margins are 100% clear.

This is the absolutely best news that I could ask for.

Yes, this is fabulous news, Jack --- now, onto a lifetime of zeros and the joy of recovery.

Sometimes when recovery is a pain in the butt, literally and figuratively, I remember the day I got my path report and know it's all worth it. Lock this memory away for future use.

Jack, that is the best news I heard all morning, congrats on an excellent pathology report, and I for one, am glad you got that nasty in reality Gleason 7 prostate out of you!

What great lunch time reading!!

You might take a look at the nomograms for your chances of progression free recovery. If the results were your batting average, you could have trounced the Yankees in four!

Hint, I would, however, wait until the catheter was out before scheduling the first game.

It's hard to beat the feeling you get when you get a pathology report like that! Kinda makes all the abuse you had to endure worth it.

I'm a month out. Tired today. I think I overdid it yesterday. OK, I watch the Detroit Lions.

Still I forget sometimes this is major surgery.

Great news. I believe you had said the men in your family don't take being sick to easily so sit back and be pampered for a while. You deserve it.

Congratulations Jack. It is great to get a good pathology report after all the fear and anxiety that we go through in dealing with PCa.
