SRT 37 of 39 - Tuesday

Had my Tuesday zapping done at 1030 this morning instead of my usual time.  Was a 25 minute deal this time.  Lots of burning at the SP site, they said it looked all red, but clean.

Two left - one tommorow, and then one Friday.  Can't hardly stand it at this point.  Be so glad when this phase of treatment is over with, and I can start healing from that.  Next big item, is to be catheter  free after all this time, today is day 55 on the SP catheter alone.  The earliest time frame from the looks of it won't be completely cath free until mid January, so still have a lot of spasms and cath annoying things to look forward until then.  But one problem at a time.

David, I have been following your daily accounts. Your journal will be a great resource for others to follow in the future. It brings back vivid memories of my 35 treatments, which were almost uneventful compared to yours. I can recall that last week. Hang in there my friend, and let the healing begin. May the zaps send your PC into oblivion, and start rolling zeros again. Bill in San Diego

Thank you so much, Bill, I would have prefered that my SRT had been non-eventful too, but its been anything but that.

Hi David,

Only two more to go and then the RT part is over. We're all rootin' for you and may the Pca be blown to oblivion, as another poster said.

David I am thankful this Thanksgiving that you are almost through with your tx. Lots of other things to be grateful for as well, but happy for you.

Thank you, Ohio, Mike, and Michael. When you go through an extended situation like this, its almost anti-climatic when its over. You simply get up from the table and walk away. But still got my last two to deal with, after 37, its seems like nothing. Just want it over.

Wow, two to go. And a bonus, a day off between them to eat some turkey. I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and hope that you enjoy the holiday. You have benefited by posting your daily journey and so have we,. Thanks for that David,

Bill,a big thanks to your support. It's not that I think my SRT time was remarkable, but several people here did request for me to do a running diary, so thus I did. My complications were not entirely unexpected. Like my dr. said. she had never radiated anyone with an SP catheter in place. And she planned my treatments based on past performance of my hyper sensitivity to radiation in general. I feel she did a great job, the staff there has been very sincerly caring.

You can probably tell from my posts, I am not into the blame game like some folks are. The complications I have encountered in my PC journey, definitely been a few, lol, I dont blame on my uro/surgeon, my gp, or the radiation doctor. Its because I am David Riley, and must be an odd duck and my body has its own quirks. No one to blame, just thankful my current medical staff is in tune with me, my feelings and my pain. And none of them ever rush me when we meet.

Just my opinion, perhaps from being married to a nurse, but unless you have really really strong evidence to the norm, it pays to be a compiiant patient. My life is in my doctor's hands at one level, so good teamwork and cooperation, and open communications makes it easier for them, and for me, the patient of course.

DAVID, What is left to say..... TWO MORE ZAPS!!!!. What time is your Friday Zapping? I think I will plan a celebration here in Cajun country to salute you.

May even take pics and send them to you.

One of my thanks on Thursday is that you will finish this on Friday and that I have you as a friend.

My normal zap time is 1430. My wife, being off that day, wanted to come to the last one herself. Was fortunate that I never needed anyone to drive me home during this time. There were 2 or 3 times, that I was so knocked for a loop leaving there that I wished I hadn't been driving, either from severe nausea or pain or both, but managed to get home.

Yes, I too have a lot to be thankful for as well this year. And you too, have been a good and faithful friend throughout this entire process, and for that, I am thankful in return for you.

David,

Somewhere in my memory banks is a chant that keeps repeating to me;

"One down two to go, one down two to go, hey- hey-hey!

"One down two to go, one down two to go, hey- hey-hey!

Many of us will be including you in our Thanksgiving prayers this Thursday. I sincerely hope that my journey beginning Monday will not be a mirror image of yours, so that those that follow in our foot steps will have differing views and expectations from the treatment.

Sonny, no reason in the world to think that you would experience the same difficulties as I have been having with my SRT. Since you haven't been through RT before, no reason to think that you might be sensitive to it, you won't know yourself till you do. And thank goodness, you don't currently have stricture issues and/or having to have any type of cath, Foley or SP while undergoing it. Definitely a case of two entirely different situations but undergoing the same treatment.

I think most people reading this segment of my journey, fully realize that I am in a small percentile group with these types of complications.

I wish, and hope, that at most, you only have the discomfort of having fatigue directly from the RT as a side effect. That also hits different people in different ways.

I'm so glad to hear you've nearly completed your radiation adventure.  I don't know how you've managed to deal with everything that's been thrown your way in your lifetime, but you are a shining beacon to those of us whos journey's have just begun.  You are in my prayers, and I pray for your recovery from this monster that has so affected all our lives and the lives of those we love.

Today is next to last. T minus 52 hours and counting. May you miss it like you miss a leaking cath bag.
By Friday afternoon you will be on the road to recovery instead of to the hospital.

Jeff, its been a long almost 2 months of this, but I can now say, the day after tommorow its all over with. At least getting slammed with a daily dose of radiation. Looking forward to the recovery side of this part. After Christams has passed, then on to dialations, and catheter removal, be nice to start the new year free of the snake(s). I figured, by New Years day, I would have spent almost 200 days on a total of 10 or 11 catheters. A record I wish I never knew about.
