Just had my blood drawn for my first Post Salvage Radiation treatments at my local hospital, all of two blocks away. Suppose to get results back by Wednesday of this week. I need them for my meeting with my radiation oncologist next Monday.
Not sure what to expect, the last post surgery reading I had was back in August, so its been 4 months since the last one, and no telling if and by how much it went up before I started radiation in October. It would have had 2 full months to grow before radiation.
Regardless, this is suppose to be my new base number. Not too worried about that starting point. However, in 3 months, will be anxious and concerned about the 2nd reading. My dr. said that without a prostate gland, there absolutley should not be even a microscopic rise on that 2nd reading. She said you only get post radiation bounce if you still have your prostate, which makes sense because even a radiiation damaged one would still produce legitimate amounts of PSA.
So I really wont know till March if I am winning or losing the bigger picture of things. The 3rd one in June next year would show that I am either holding my own, or back on the rise upward. I don't want to think about that right now.
Next goal, to get this you-know-what catheter out of my stomach. Been in there for 82 days straight as of today, tired of it, messing with it, hurting from it, blah, blah, blah. Just a minor vent.
Will post the result of the new PSA number as soon as I get it.
