Path Report After Surgery?

My father just had his open RRP surgery this past Monday and thankfully he is coming home today. I wanted to ask you guys a question.....

The doctor told him that everything looked pretty good, pretty sure the seminal vesicles are negative, lymph nodes neg, etc. I was just wondering, does anyone know how reliable this information is? Thanks.

Obviously the post-op path report will be much more reliable, but assuming your surgeon is experienced, I think you would be entirely justified in taking comfort in his impressions and enjoying your Christmas.

LuvMyDad,
The surgeon can see the prostate when he removes it and obviously he did not see anything (visible to the naked eye) that was serious. Microscopic examination of the prostate and other tissue by the pathologist will give a much clearer picture when the result is available. In the meantime have a great Christmas,
