Still No Post-SRT PSA results

The lab that re-did my first post SRT PSA test told me to call them for results this afternoon.  When I called, they said they just faxed them to my uro/surgeon's office, who ordered them on behalf of my radiation oncologist.  So I call my dr's office, and they closed at noon for the holidays, and won't open again till Monday.  So I have  to still sweat it out another half a week for results that I am paying for.  Very aggervated.  Because I have to see the rad. oncl. on Monday at 10 AM.  These stupid HIPPA laws can work for and against you, I told the lab I could properly identify myself, but they said all they could say was that they faxed  the results, end of the subject.  Not use to having these kind of technicalities on top of the normal PSA worries.

Sorry to read that you have to suffer another few days to get your PSA test result. I'll be going to make my 6 monthly donation to the local vampires an Tuesday and then sweat for a week to get my result. I hate this disease!   Hopefully both our test results will make us feel better for the next few month.

Hi Dave,

I am really sorry you have to sit around and just wait, I know that can be grueling. Try to keep yourself busy, I know that sounds easier said then done. I like to think of worst possible scenarios (say to myself even if it is, its not that bad and I can work with it) and that makes me feel so much better.

It's NYE try to enjoy the time with your family...in summary keep yourself busy!

If there was a chat on healing well actually was active that would be a nice way to keep busy.

What the heck are you talking about OS?

I suggested not obsessing and move on to enjoy a nice weekend. Take a mental health day, a break from the worry and let loose for a little fun in life. Now I remember why I took most of 2010 off! Prioritizing stressors.

I, in fact, know a boat load more than most do about cancer and a few other select medical subjects. Most importantly, I know not worrying about the little things we can't change (like the office being closed for the weekend) that really don't do any harm. Those are the easiest in which to let go. PSA results sitting on the Doc's desk is only a worry if Purg let's it be one. It's still gonna be the same come Monday morning so why not take a few days repsite? The only "source" he's getting on this thread is causing stress, not reducing it IMO.

Run Purg...run to the nearest funny movie and laugh for a couple of hours :>) It does a body so much good :>)

thanks billymac, i can always count on you to be the voice of reason, and i appreciate your friendship. this was the only time that my uro didnt handle directly a psa test for me, and it gets all screwed up. you are right, with the never ending agony i have been through the past few months, and even now as i type this, just wanted a simple piece of mind thing, thats all. of course waiting to monday won't impact the rest of my life, others seem to get a little cold on the understanding part.

Mal, thank you. A question, I know each of our cases differ from man to man, our your doctors ok with your post radiation numbers? Since I don't have any number(s) yet, not sure what to expect to see in the months leading up to the first year after my radiation ended.

Thank you, Mike, same to you and your family, you have been there 100% for me, and I appreciate it.

I just need a sense of direction in the new post SRT world. From this point on, according to my radiaton oncologist, any rise in PSA, after this reading, is a sure sign that SRT failed. So it will make future PSA readings a bit more antsy in my opinion, but I will deal with that when and if I have to.

Thanks and hello Barry, not into college football, but big NFL fan, Patriots for 39 years ever faithful. Got plenty to keep me busy, it wasn't not knowing the number as much as the "failure to communicate" on the part of the local hospital's lab in screwing up a very simple thing.

The number is what it is, nothing is going to change that, whether I know or not know, that's for sure.

Have a great year ahead, I think we all need some of that.
