It is kind of funny as there are major milestones. First Fart, first bm, etc. So far, everything accomplished. First post-op shower took 3 hours (have to do stuff with bandages, infusion tubes, catheter, groan.). Next milestone, tomorrow: I get to pull out the infusion pump. They say it won't hurt. (They infuse either a placebo or an antiinflammatory-- part of a study).
Bigger milestone is Sunday. We start to retrain the bladder. We disconnect the catheter (it's a supra-pubic one -- he pioneered that for this kind of surgery) via a knob and go normally then reconnect. Repeat continually for 2 days.
Tuesday is the Big Event-- if things go okay before then, they take out the catheter. I get the pathology report. That will tell me what's up. Then it is hello Depends. We hope to go home on Wednesday.
Pain is still an issue but all is going in the right direction. Despite my complaints, I have only taken 3 regular tylenol post-op. Changing positions is tough.
