My wife and I settled on a surgeon earlier in the month and I'm scheduled for my open procedure on Feb 3rd. Dr. Morgan (Richmond, VA)was recommended by another member (CPA) so we included him in our interviews while we made our decision. He really made the wife and I comfortable when we spoke with him through his concern and demeanor. He came from his office to meet us in the waiting room, took us for coffee and then took his time as he discussed my condition while walking us through all the available options. He answered my two pages of questions with patience and it was clear his sole goal was my successful surgery and recovery. Dr. Morgan has performed over 1,000 open procedures with great success, which was another comforting factor. It seems a strange way to say it, but it feels like he fits me like a glove. My wife and I are satisfied with our choice and I'm looking forward to the next chapter so I can move on!


I certainly would not have been able to learn what I did or make my choices without this forum and its fine members. Cheers Mates and I'll see you all on the other side!

sounds like you have made a good choice with a good surgeon. yes, often there is that sense of calm once you make it through the sea of learning and knowledge along the way to decide upon your primary treatment choice. I was an open surgery guy, there are others of us here if you have any specific questions, then please ask away.

I know exactly what you mean. When we found our surgeon, I knew before we left his office, and I had that peace that I have never lost, and I have never looked back.

And you must keep your decision in that same way. You will hear on this forum from tose who have taken different paths based on their inner peace. Don't ever say, I wonder if I should have done this or that.

I just like you went into surgery with great peace. Had no fear going into surgery. I was rolled into the surgery room without any sedation wide awake and moved myself onto the surgery table. Even made a comment about something being comfortable.

I know what you feel, it's a comfort to settle on something and to feel that your choice fits so well. Se ya on the other side of a hopefully normal and uneventful procedure.

It's nice to have some kind of relief when dealing with PCa. I also had relief when talking to my surgeon and decided my treatment. Pray that all goes well on the 3rd. Mine is going to be on the 5th. Let us know how things are going.

Making that decision and feeling comfortable with it is so important. It takes away the fear of what is about to happen. Hopefully with his experience you will have a great outcome. Good luck

Good luck with the surgery.  So glad that you have peace of mind with your surgeon.  That is so so important!!

The decisions are made, the plans completed, the prep and logistics are under control. But don't relax just yet. You have to empty that little guy first. Then you can relax and be at peace with your course of action.
