I am sorry I was not clear enough.yes I am sad that we have many new guy coming in ,I wish pc slow down.

I am sad that many guys down the road do not report back that they are doing five 5,10,15 years after they had pc.

to the new guys there is hope, and most of them will be doing fine,but they need the encoragement of guys whom are 5,10 15 years.

I just whish that those guy send us a note that they are doing fine.it is my wish.tongue

Gold horse, I agree with that completly. It would be good, and we always get a thrill when someone does come back and tell us how they are doing on their long term path. I hope that we all, as we get farther down the road, will remember their brothers that are still behind them and will come back to let them know how we are doing, for the encouragement and hope that we can provide. Sadly, for the foreseeable future, there's gonna be a steady stream of new guys joining here, so we graduates need to remember them and remember how we felt when we first had to face the diagnosis.

Great point. I see some fearing the nomograms who are new to the journey. And all of us had some fear when we set out. But most move on with their lives and don't post frequently. HealingWell is a support group. Most of us need that group when we are fresh on the journey. But when we get settled in we don't need it as much. After three years I feel a need to be here, but mostly to support others. Help them along sorting through facts, preferences, and fears. But the truth is that I have received far less than that first two years, so I say it is that most who have been on this journey for longer periods don't stay here to share that story.

Yes, it would be encouraging to one and all, if guys that were 5,10, 20 years, or more out, paid a visit back. Many men to go on to survive PC, the stats clearly show that, and they live out their lives and die of something totally unrelated.

I also heartedly agree. I will continue to post here from time to time no matter the outcome of my treatments or journey. So many guys need the encouragement of hearing the success stories.

It would sure help the attitudes as they face their own journey to know that success happens more often than not.

Latest PSA result < 0.1. That's seven years--count 'em--cancer free. All the best to each of you on your own prostate cancer journey. Take care and hang in there.

Tim: that is great news!!! Seven years is amazing to me. I was only in the "zero club" for 3 months, can't imagine 7 years. Almost makes you want to use the "cure" word with you, but don't want to jinx you.

You are right on! It is heartening to see members "kick PS's butt" or at least still playing the game after years and members should come back to let us know what's going on in their lives;
many didn't expect to see their grandchildren but now attend their weddings. It is gratifying to see "newbees" fears after diagnosis turn into mild anxiety through the efforts of this forum's members. The knowledge and support provided to all is outstanding. Sure, there are sad times
as our "women warriors" are well aware and we should support them an well as we can.and we must not forget members such as "Bud" who fought a courageous battle; he was an inspiration to all. Also, we must not forget the valiant fight of spouses such as "Silverlace" who lost the battle.
We are all part of a "Band of Warriors" and should return periodically to help our brothers and sisters.

Maybe have the moderators start a sticky thread... "How are you doing 5 years or more down the road?" Maybe have a few guidelines of questions to answer in the posts for informative status summary... Maybe cover the subjects of treatments, PCa/PSA status, ED status, and continence status?

great idea, pasa!

that would be a good encouraging thing for both newcomers and vets alike to see, to show that there is long term hope for many men with PC. because of the nature of our group, there are lots of bad stories and cases lingering. too many of the men like tim's story above, get well and move on, which is good of course. but there successes would be a good thing to reference

It's true that most men who post here and are "successfully" treated move on, but many of them do post their updated annual PSAs.  With this forum being one big umbrella covering everything related to prostate cancer, with limited sticky threads (and the owner/administrator's wish to keep it that way), there is no future in store for sticky threads related to success stories.

How about an option in "Edit Profile" where you could check/uncheck a box that allows a bot to send you an email once a year to remind you to login and share how you are doing?
