It was very interesting. I was feeling ill and concerned about
a UTI. I had a urine test which showed both red and white cells. We expected the red but not the white. A subsequent culture was negative.
Anyway, the doctor said that BOTH white and red cells are very typical at this stage (5-6 weeks post-op). So that urine test was completely normal, given the circumstances.
Also, in some patients there is a delayed swelling. This will result in many trips to the bathroom after urinating (subsequent trips yield just a few drops at a time). This just happens.
Anyway, that was quite informative. The specialists there know a LOT more than the local doctors. He also confirmed that I should drop the cipro now.
There ya go.
I'm sure I will now get the predictable responses ala "now you can stop worrying etc. etc. etc."
But I'm sharing this information because it is interesting and surprising. Oh, he also confirmed that even if it is an infection, it will NOT influence the PSA in one sans prostate. So I can now worry about my first post-op PSA which I intend to do on Tuesday.
