Change in Trimex formula?

The trimex injection are still not working to my satisfaction. I am up to 60 ml and have been using suggestions from members as to how to inject. (pumping before injection etc.). I still only get about 60-80% and it only last for about 15 min. I am calling my urn on Monday. Should I ask him to change my trimex formula? What other problems could there be? Has old willie died forever?

There are different concentrations of Trimix. I'm not sure which you have. If you tell your Uro that you have gone up to .60 ml and still have no action he can bump up the concentration -if you are not already at the max.

I tried pumping before injecting and had the same results you mention.  I have the best results by just injecting and then rolling Mr. Happy like dough in the palms of my hands briskly for a few seconds to distribute the trimix well.  I have very few failures this way.  I've learned through this forum that we all react differently and what works for one may or may not work for another.  I hope you can find a routine that is successful for you.

I suppose the literature says the 'standard' ratio is 30mg/ml papaverine/1mg/ml phentolamine/20mcg/ml alprostadil. What changes you have from that I don't know. Unless your formula is much weaker (I've seen some quoted here that were- especially in the alprostadil) then your doc should know how to adjust. I'd suggest you tell him what the 'standard' is and ask what he is prescribing, and if different, ask him to reevaluate the conditions and try a stronger dose, whatever that may be.

could you tell us what the concentration is of the 3 drugs


I know I have heard of people with 1/2 strength Trimix, Perhaps your Uro started you off on 1/2

I am at .35 ml trimix, but I also go with an ed generic called eregra 100mg. which provides very consistent results and I actually may start to reduce the dosage as I am only 4 months out of surgery and am seeing mild reaction from just 100 mg ed pill alone; but not enough to handle the Indy 500. You may want to try combiningwith ed pill as long as you had at least a nerve bundle spared. I was told I could go as high as .7 trimix, then if inadequate then they would alter the blend. I have the standard trimix blend.

The Trimex blend I have is Papaverine 30 mg/ml, Phentolamine 0.5 mg/ml & Prostaglandin E 10 MCG/ML. It seems that Phentolamine and Prostaglandin is lower than the "standard" dose. I believe that Prostaglandin is the drug that gives the biggest kick.

Rickey, yes it appears the phento and prostaglandin are both half strength to the 'standard'. And yes, the prostaglandin (alprostadil) does give it a kick. If it were me, and I could afford it, I'd ask for the standard prescription and try that. At the least, with double strength, maybe it would only take half as much and be a money saver... smilewinkgrin

The problem is the 1/2 strength Trimix. Here's why

The penis can only absorb so much fluid , At 60ml you are asking it to absorb a lot, most of it will be dissipated back into your body

That means that the amount that does stay in the penis is not full strength

For arguments sake lest say the penis can hold 40ml of an injected liquid. Your 60ml is not only resulting in a waste of 20ml but the 40ml that is absorbed is less than optimum

Now take full strength Trimix, you likely will only need 20-25 units which seems to be the max for most people here, some take even less. Those absorbed 20-25 units have a far greater concentration of potent drug than the 60 units of half strength

Basically it would be cheaper to buy full strength Trimix, using 20-25units per shot, vs 60 units of 1/2 strength Trimix ( which does not work )

60 units gets you what 8 shots per 5ml vial ?
going full strength at 25 units will net you 20 shots per 5ml vial

I doubt the cost diff is all that much between the 2, a good part of the Trimix cost is the freezer packs and overnight s/h, which either dosage would require
