Thanks, guys, almost didn't report this one. Just don't understand why after being on so many caths for so many months, Ive only recently had these cath blockages, especially this many months from both surgeries and radiation. Just another adventure in my twisted world.

I asked my wife to peek at my bag in the morning, to make sure it looks like I am ok before she leaves for work. My last attempt to irragate a blockage turned into a disaster, don't want a repeat of that.

Thanks, one and all. It did flow heavy durning the night, even had to empty the 2000cc one in the middle of the night, so the irragating and flushing my wife/nurse did, did the job. Just tired of the whole thing. Now I have to worry with or without catheter.

jerry, this was a discomforting one, but not serious. at least i havent had to go to the uro's office today while my dr. is close by.

we have plenty of irragation supplies now at home for any emergency like last night.

Enjoy your southbound. The unblocking must have worked well, I woke up around 3 AM, and the 2000cc Night Bag was full up and starting to back up the tube, I was amazed, that's two full liters plus. I emptied it and went back to sleep.

Try to give me a 24 hour notice on your anticipated arrival time. Wed morning I have to p.u. daughter in law and driver her to Greenville airport, and Friday, have to leave about 1230 for interview.

Gleason7 - Until I hit Catheter 15, I had never had one block up or plug, so its not normal. #15 plugged up twice, the first time my wife was able to clear it, the 2nd time, I had to rushed to my uro's office, and his asst. couldn't clear it so they swapped it. Since my radiation ended in late November, my leg/night bags have often had blood and bloody debris in with the urine. They feel that some of that is probably related to colateral damage from the radiation, and some of it is from the two corrective surgeries I had at the bladder neck, one in January, and one in March. The inlet to the catheter sits just above the balloon inside the blader, and the inlet holes are actually tiny when you see them up close. I can only guess that just by chance, debris too big to clear the inlets sits in the way and blocks. WHen the catheter is irragated, it flushes sterile water through the cath and into the bladder. This is done 1 - 3 times, to clear the debris.

BTW, a foley catheter exits a man through his penis. What I have had the past 7 months are suprapubic catheters, and they exit a whole that my surgeon made back in October, its comes out on my left side, just below and to the left of the belly button area.

Geez, Gleason, 106 gr Prostate, one of the larger ones I have ever heard of. My original catheter from surgery was for 30 days, then extended to 63 days ,due to difficulty attaching the urethra/bladder neck, due to a very deep and narrow prostate bed. I had chosen open surgery and good thing I did, as the dr. would not have been able to do robotic on me in the end. I know all about bladder spasms, have literally have had hundreds, if not more than a thousand of them in all my cath time, I still use ditropan, sometimes I think it helps, sometimes I might as well be eating a cube of sugar.

There is nothing we can say that hasn't been said. Your journey is a long a difficult one. I can't imagine how you and your lovely wife are coping. Hang in there brother, there has to be a light at the end of the tunnel.
