Woke up this morning to still another total blockage in my catheter. It was that full, burning pain you sense in your bladder, I know it all too well. Wife was already gone to work, my uro's office in my town doesnt have a dr. on Tuesday or Thursdays. So, I had to
open the irragation kit the dr. gave me, and made a feeble attempt to flush it
open myself. Something not easy to do by your self. Have to disconnect the bag, take the cath loose from the leg clamp. Then
open sterile syringe, and
open sterile water bottle, pull out 100 ml or more of water, fit the tip of the syringe down the catheter
opening, hoping you have a good seal, hold the cath with one hand so it doesnt pull, while injecting slowly the water. If you get it all through on the first pass, usually means you cleared the blockage. In the middle of doing this, the power went off in my neighborhood, so even more fun in a dark bathroom with no window.
Seem to be flowing again, still hooked up to night bag. but nervous. The only tell tell sign was yesterday evening, around 9 PM while simply sitting and watching tv, I felt weird down there, and looked, and a good amount of fresh blood was filling the bag. So I cleaned and emptied it. My flow the rest of the night was never that strong, but sometimes you just dont know.
Sitting here with the cath, the night bag, briefs with a guard in it, just in case it backs up again, in pain from the bladder neck, and wishing this was all over. If there is still an issue by morning, there will be a dr. at my local office I can see quickly. They may have to change out the tube, instead of waiting for next Monday. Not sure I will make it that far on my own
