Back from urologist office. Said OK for cath to stay out.
Did ultrasound and bladder was retaining 130 cc.
Got home and now having trouble peeing. Just dribbles.
Been drinking a ton of water for last 30 minutes.
Any tips on getting a good flow?

I would say just give it a little time, 2 or 3 days maybe for swelling and irritation to go down. Of course, if you are not peeing at all all, or are having pain, then go to ER or back to dr.

I was peeing pretty good all day. Just holding it for an hour back it's just dribbling out.
Feel the need to go but not painfully.

Long as you are flowing, you should be ok. But, if you feel your bladder hurting because its full, and you can't go or only can get a drip at the time, call your uro/surgeon if he is open, and if not, make for the ER. If you have to go to the ER, make sure they have a number to your surgeon's office, so that they can speak to who ever is on call. It's important that the ER people don't do damage or hurt you, they need to know that you have prostate surgery. Hopefully it won't come down to that.

Ray, are you on Flomax?  That should help.  If you are not, call your uro and ask why not.

Ray.. i've got some recent and ongoing experience with that type of issue. I CUT DOWN on the fluids!! I know they always want drink fluids drink fluids, But YOU ARE HEALING, GIVE IT A BREAK! Also, DO NOT drink liquor. The 2 beers I had at the graduation party last week ended up with me on the toilet in pain for the next 10 hours, peeing a tablespoon's worth at a time, then pain, then a little more. Horrible. Speaking from my recent experience.. cut down on the fluids till you get it worked out.

Just back from ER. New cath in place. By the time they got me cathed it drained 1200 cc.
Tudpock, yes I'm on Flomax. In fact they told me to take it twice a day.
BobCape, I think cutting back on liquids may be the right approach.
I've been drinking tons of water but probably screwed up this afternoon and drank a Coke right before this started.
Will be on the phone with the urologist bright and early tomorrow.

Ray, I was strongly afraid you were bound for the ER. Sorry to hear that, been there done that in my catheter travels. 1200cc is lot of fluid in a bladder that is still in the healing stages. Bet you felt relief once that flow started again. Don't let them rush taking out the cath, you may need a little more healing time. Avoiding liquids is very counterproductive. Definitely no to liquor, beer, sodas, fruit juices, during this critical part of your healing time.

My hint for the day..I only dribble a few drops while standing, but things are much better sitting.

Thanks David, nothing but water for me for a long time. Instant relief when that thing started flowing.
Fertree, I tried both and could only dribble 4-5 drops before stopping.
Trust me I tried everything but standing on my head. LOL

Called the urologist office this morning and left a voice mail for his nurse.
She never called so I called back at 1 and left another. Finally at 3 I called back and the receptionist told me the nurse had to leave early for a family emergency and the doc was in surgery.
I had been concerned all morning that there wasn't enough urine flow into the bag even though I had no idea what's normal. Desperately wanting assurance that there'd be no trips to ER over the weekend I called the urologist who diagnosed the PC (he's not the one who did the Brachy). Explained the ER experience last night and how much urine was in the bag since I emptied it at noon to his nurse. She said it sounded normal but would talk to the doc. He called me within 15 minutes and said it sounded fine and as long as it was flowing nothing to worry about. He said the 350 cc in 4 hours was normal. Also told me he's on call 24 hours a day on weekends and if I had a problem just call the hospital and he'd call me. Question for the forum. Is 350cc in 4 hours "normal"?

I took a different treatment route, but completed a four day course of tracking urine flow volumes yesterday, so based on my tracking measurements, I have some confidence saying that 350 ml over 4 hours is just fine.

Some guy with an MD may tell you different, in which case pay attention to him, but what I have heard for all treatment approaches is more fluids are always better, and less fluids are never better.

Thanks Larch. That'll confirm what the doc said and let me get some peace of mind and hopefully sleep tonight.
I haven't slept much in the last four nights and am a zombie.
