Arnon Krongrad plopped this link on my Facebook page today. Arnon is one of the cofounders of the Prostate Cancer Infolink and Prostate Cancer International. He has authored in the past including Behing the Mask in the miami Herald, and now an column with Psychology Today magazine entitled "Scrub, Rinse, Repeat" A surgeons view of patients, doctors and health.

Today's article is titled "Tony Blue Eyes" and after several exchanges with him today, I still don't know if he had an ulterior motive for that title...lol. Anyway here is a nice read on hwo to waste money in the industry through fraud (which can be controlled) and the legal system, which cannot be controlled:

Pretty deep in his words on that and you might find yourself re-reading some it to get the message.

I suppose someone like James Carvel or such, might say "It's the culture stupid"  which I get that message really clear and fast.  Money rules in our culture today and it has side effects which is reflected in that writing.  What is your take on his writing this???

I saw the interview on 60 minutes, it is amazing how much fraud is out there. I always check the receipts I get from CMS to make sure that they are all correct.

Thought provoking article.  Thank you for posting.  Makes one think of lots of things.  Made me think these things:

  1. There are good doctors out there who want to do the right things.  There are lots of folks (here, and elsewhere) who like to participate in the sport of "doctor bashing", but this appears to me as an example of a doctor who wants to do the right things.
  2. Disgust over frivolous lawsuits in our society causing a waste of our limited resources, and also how mindlessly quickly people are prone to threaten legal action.
  3. Disgust over the creative criminal minds going to waste nefariously and unproductively rather than contributing positively to society.

Good article; left me with a bad feeling.  Glad to read someone with such good inside knowledge writing so critically of the situation; we on the outside know so little.

Also read his other online articles; enjoyed them a little better.

I, like Tony have met Dr Krongrad and can speak of his desire to empower patients. He is an amazing person as is his wonderful wife. Tony and I spent a couple days in Miami at his clinic a couple years ago and it was so refreshing to meet a doctor that had such a passion for people.
