Hi Everyone - We just returned from LA for visit with Dr. Leibowitz' office. The 13-month protocol is complete so this visit was the follow up visit to see how things are going and what is next. First we went to Ventura, CA to see Dr. Bahn where my husband got another doppler ultrasound. One year ago this procedure showed blood flow on right and left side, (indicating tumor), this time there is no blood flow at all on one side and it has shrunk significantly, (by 2/3) on the other side. The next day we took these results with us to our meeting with Dr. Turner at Dr. Leibowitz' office. Dr. Turner was very happy with the results, my husband was initially depressed that there was any evidence of blood flow at all, but was reassured that it is an impressive result. The whole goal with the protocol is to debulk the body of as much cancer as possible and manage from there on out.
PSA was .005 which is apparently as low as the ultrasensitive test goes. We will get the CTC results today but expect it to be zero as it has been. HT was stopped, anti-angiogenics will continue along with other things such as immune enhancers, Celebrex and Metformin. Everything is going exactly as it should so we are very pleased at this point. Dr. said to expect a slight rise in PSA as testerone level returns to normal, but it should plateau and stay low for a very long time. How long ... who knows? Years we hope. There will be other options available to us should we need to utilize them in the future, and there is so much promising research going on now in the fight against this beast. The focus on Pca has increased exponentially so much over the last 5 years and should continue over the next 5, who knows what is next. But we have every reason to hope and believe that new and more effective treatments are forthcoming.
Best Wishes to All
