Blood in Urine: Is this normal?

Since having the cath pulled out last Friday I have been progressively getting better...until yesterday. Please let me know if this is normal?

I awoke and went to the bathroom and found that my normal-colored urine turned into that Cola-colored liquid. I waited a couple of hours and several more trips to confirm that it was not a mistake. My Dr. did not seem concerned. Asked me to call if it got worse or if I passed a blood clot.

By 4:30 urine went clear. Had dinner after taking Pepcid OTC and sat to watch some TV until 10pm. My urine before bedtime turned Cherry Kool Aid red (actually kind of pretty). After several hours of sleep I went to the bathroom and passed a quarter-sized blood clot and red urine. Since then (time now is 11:25am) all urine is back to normal.

Is it the Pepcid OTC?
Is it the Manwich Sandwich mix I ate?
Is it the 83mg asperine and Omega 3 I take every day?

I wonder if you might not want to discontinue the aspirin until the healing of the anastamosis is complete.

I had the cath out Thursday and have had just a little leaking. I do get a tinge of blood after I've been up and around for awhile.
I would rather let them have my testicles before I had another cath.

As the new joint between the urethra and bladder heal, "scabs" (since they are internal they are soft clot-like) form and then slough off to bleed a little and surprise post-surgery patients..Very normal....Eventually, scar tissue forms ..

Aspirin?? That's a big no-no....So is Fish Oil!

Understood. I've been off the aspirin and Omega since then and everything has cleared up. I passed a second smaller clot (looked more like a tiny, thin slice of ham) but I'm not concerned about it. I'm surprised that they took me off this stuff because they seemed to not be concerned with me getting back on the baby aspirin.
