Clinical Trial TAK-700 Revisited

After 28 days of treatment, my PSA went from 8.0 to 0.3. The side effects are different for different people but my major gripe has been significant nausea with a headache to go with it. The antidote prescribed for nausea was ineffective and I am trying various inexpensive OTC remedies with ginger cookies. Will let you know what works for me.

I have a call in to my oncologist to see what OTC ingredients may be chemically active with TAK-700 and therefore verboten.

For those of you unfamiliar with my treatment profile, I have had EBRT, ADT2 (Lupron w/Casodex), Intermittent Lupron, Casodex alone, surgical prostate removal, and a bilateral orchiectomy. The clinical trial that I am receiving treatment with TAK-700 is for patients with (CRPC) Nonmetastatic Castration-resistant Prostate Cancer and a rising PSA.

Fantastic PSA drop!  My husband and I are very interested in this trial.  It is my understanding it is open to men who've previously been treated with Ketoconazole.

stxdave- Glad that is working well for you, I have been on it since jan 2010  in may psa went down to 3.42 from 7.81 in jan since may it has been rising every month now it is 5.81. well they say that most people do better than me , I only get about 4-5 months per new drug before it goes up. I dont have any side affects like you but my legs get tired and swell up now and then ,good luck alf

This is the result I hoped for (and expected). Any idea why nausea is a side effect? Liver results are normal?

I am 70 was diagnosed in 2005 Nov. a Gleason 9 with a PSA of 9.3. My prostate cancer came back in 2007 with my PSA hitting 22.6 now on a new test trial at Johns Hopkins called TAK-700. I started Oct 2010 PSA at 17.6 with good results my PSA as of April 2011 is 3.71. Lots of ankle swelling plus a spike in blood pressure

 

PSA as of June 28-2011 is 1.53

Dave and Packard,

Thanks for posting your results. Glad that both of you are responding to treatment and sorry about the side effects. Please continue to post your results. It is always good to hear straight from the trial participant rather than some report that overstates results and understates the side effects. I hope you both continue to do well.

Sorry to have to inform you that our friend and long-term PCa survivor passed away from a fall that fractured a rib and punctured his lung. He had a super response to TAK-700 but unfortunately his clinical trial did not include prednisone and the side effects were too severe for Dave. We miss Dave and his humor.

Thanks, Ralph. I did not notice the date on the posting. I am sorry to hear that Dave passed away. I am away from the forum for extended periods sometimes and miss some of the postings.

Been on TAK-700 for one year with great results.

 

Started with PSA of 17.6 today I am at 1.04

Some side effect but very light.

alfinz,atxdave,tarhoosiser.don826 Hi All: There was not a Christmas present in the results of my 12/13/2011 PSA . I had a 63% increase from 1.04 to 1.65 This is my first red flag of the test trial TAK-700. If I get three consecutive rises ( red flags ) of least 20% I am out of the trial. 49PACKARD

TAK-700 as I knew it for 1 1/2 years was a great friend. But of of March 9 things end for TAK.

PSA stopped going down and turned aroung.

As of May 1, 2012 I started the newer drug PROVENGE.

PSA  has gone up from 1.04 to 9.26.

9.26 is what my PSA was 7 years ago when I was first diognosed.
