Any one have Prostate cancer and Acromegaly?

Have a feeling most of the peeps here like me, have never heard of it.

Acromegaly  is a syndrome that results when the pituitary gland produces excess growth hormone (hGH) after epiphyseal plate closure at puberty. A number of disorders may increase the pituitary's GH output, although most commonly it involves a GH producing tumor called pituitary adenoma, derived from a distinct type of cell (somatotrophs).

Acromegaly most commonly affects adults in middle age,[1] and can result in severe disfigurement, serious complicating conditions, and premature death if unchecked. Because of its insidious pathogenesis and slow progression, the disease is hard to diagnose in the early stages and is frequently missed for many years, until changes in external features, especially of the face, become noticeable.

Not heard of both at the same time, but statistically one in five or so men with Acromegaly will get PCa.

I have heard of acromegaly. A very simplistic way of thinking of it is that it is the opposite of a type of dwarfism (apologies to anyone if that term is offensive but I'm using it medically), with one condition the pituitary doesn't do enough with the other it does to much, though dwarfism usually manifests itself early in life. (I was at university with someone who was a pituitary dwarf - she told me herself what her problem was - she was only about four feet tall, but looked like perfectly proportioned adult. It was very strange: you could not tell she was small unless there was a point of reference near her.)
The most obvious "symptoms" of acromegaly are things like enlarged hands and feet and facial features. (the actor Richard Kiel has acromegaly, but note that some of his recent health problems were due to a head injury in a car accident and not the acromegaly)

Sorting out the pituitary is thus the important thing

In relation to the combination of PCa and acromegaly, one thing I have read about it the use of external radiation therapy to treat Acromegaly by bombarding the pituitary. As Radiation Therapy is also one of the many options available for treating PCa you must make sure that any treatments for the one don't get in the way of treatments for the other. (Make sure both medical teams talk to one another when they start planning any treatments.)

Your post is yet another reminder that PCa can come along at the same time as other things. (ie it's important not to spend so much time thinking about the PCa that other health problems slip through the net unnoticed)

update. met with the onocologist, she answered many questions and actually pointed toward the hospital/doctor ,( for the robotic procedure.)I was looking into odd, it was not affiliated with the hopital we were at). I also asked if they could get a second read on the biopsy.
Sense then the endo doctor has tested him twice for IGF-1 and both came back high, he just went for a glucose hormone test monday and we have a endo appointment next week. the radiologist called in the mean time and asked how we were doing ( he is the one that picked up on the acromegaly) he said is is critical we ge this under control, for it could be feeding the cancer.
