33 years old with enlarged prostate

i am 33 i was in the er for 4 days with meningitis, i also couldnt pee and they said i have prostatitis i was released with a catheter went to urologist got put on 2 prostate meds, i have had the catheter in almost a month now, get it out on the 21st to see if i can pee again and i also have had really bad constipation this whole time, tryed all kinds of laxatives but nothing seems to work. can anyone help

Welcome, Jeff. I really can't add or suggest anything more to your post. Your doctor appears to be aggressively treating your various problems. Since you don't have prostate cancer, there isn't much we can add that you haven't already been told. Sorry

Wow Jeff what a go for a 33 year old guy. My catheter was in for 10 days and I could not wait to get that think pulled out. Sounds like you are following your Drs instructions. My guess is that you Dr has you on some antibiotics. Best of luck guy.

thaks guys i dont know what to think yet, my catheter has been taken out and reinserted 3 times and i couldnt pee each time, its back in now, i only saw urologist one time so far and he didnt run any tests he just did a rectal exam and said my prostate is enlarged and put me on meds and said to have the catheter taken out in 2 weeks to see if i can pee and then see him again in a month, i dont know what is causing the horrible constipation, can it be related to the prostatitis?

The constipation is usually not related to the prostititis. I have unfortunately been a cronic prostititis recipient for 27 years. It is usually related to the medication you hVE BEEN TAKING.






I would suggest Metamucill in the morning. You can purchase over the counter and a stool softener pill before going to bed. I do this every day and it works for me. Prostititis doesn't cause constipation. I have had prostititis for 37 years before my recent robotic surgery. The constipation usually comes from the medication you have been taking.
