Quite a few guys here are interested in being informed and educated about
the consumption of potentially protective or beneficial foods, and like seeing the experimental studies, clinical observations and/or intervention studies which support the claims. This article is for you guys. [If on the other hand you fall into the "head firmly in the sand" category, I invite you to "ignore" this thread, or start a different thread.]
OK, so first of all we all know that there are no known "miracle cures" which the drug companies have been conspiring to withhold from us. Furthermore, there are no drugs, or supplements, or other treatments that work 100% of the time on 100% of the people...quite simply, people respond differently. People respond as differently to chemotherapy as they do to ibuprofen. Of course, this is the reason for the medical studies, observations and interventions...to see how well/poorly a population of cohorts responses to a particular component under examination.
Some men here have been dealing with erectile disfunction after prostate cancer treatment, and many are interesting in "what they can do" improve their functional performance. My personal experience after a radical prostatectomy was that I experienced ED immediately after surgery, and used a PDE-5 inhibitor afterward with decreasing frequency to help with bloodflow during my 6-9 month recovery period. Recognizing that ED also increases naturally with age, I was interested in identifying the "levers within my control" to help counteract and slow the natural aging effect. Basically, I wanted to work my way off the Cialis by identifying & eliminating the intake of items which degraded my erectile performance, and increase the intake of those things which helped supplement my performance. It turns out that this goal also coincides with other healthy eating benefits, which I won't go in to here (but many will recognize).
For any others who might also be interested in being informed and educated in this area, here's a starting point for you from the Livestrong web site: LINK
In summary from the article: watermelon, cold-water fish, and pomegranates all help. [Remember, there are no "miracle cures", but do what you can. Remember the words from the movie Tin Cup, "a little bit is better than nada...".]
Enjoy...
