newspaper article - my current art show and PCa

Thanks for sharing this.  The same thing is happening here in Lake County, Illinois and throughout the Midwest.  The grand old barns are disappearing as "development" encroaches, or as it simply becomes too expensive to repair and maintain them.  I'll never forget the night we got a frantic call from my wife's mother in the middle of the night.  The barn was on fire, burned to the ground by teenaged vandals.  I had loved the hand hewn beams and the weathered look of the old building.  What those kids did took years off my father-in-law's life.  It was like a personal assault.  Now, instead of the grand old barns, we're seeing pole barns that have no architectural significance at all, but who can afford to build a barn in the old style?

The article was just one of those many things that ended differently from what was intended, no?

It is a good piece, and I understand the barn story - we had to finally tear ours at the old homeplace down after it was badly damaged by a tornado. For some reason, each time I come around the curve, I still expect it to be there.
