Hi I'm a new member just joined i have a question that has been on my mind

since i had my RP 10 mths ago.The urologist said it was on the margin so we

will have to keep a eye on you.He then said they took extra tissue outside the

margin and it was clear of cancer.He took a PSA at 6 weeks which was 0.01

he then another at 3 mth 0.02 and 6 mth 0.03 am i right then to assume the

cancer was confined to the prostate.Is on the margin still in the prostate but

right on the very edge.

Wellcome Bill, First congratulations on your good psa results. I guess if it was me, I would be a little concerned by the rise, but .01 to .03, you are way below the 0.1 that some doctors define as detectable. I'd say that things aren't looking bad at all and only time will tell. But again if it was me, I would feel good about the overall picture. I think you are off to a good start. I hope you continue have good psa reports.

How far is Tasmania, Australia from Melbourne? Hope the flooding has eased there.

Tasmania is approx 1 hr flight from Melbourne I'm retired from driving

when diagnosed.But I'm thinking of returning to work to take my mind

of PC.As far as the floods thanks for your concern fortunately they are

under control and going down but a lot of damage and clean up to do.

Welcome to Healing Well. Your PSA is still low but due to going from .02 to .03 you need to keep an eye on it by doing another PSA test in a couple of months. I had extra prostatic extension but the doctor took more tissues beyond the prostate (about 5 mm) and there was no cancer at the margin.
By the way, I visited Tasmania back in the nineties and loved it. I went to both Hobart and Lanceston (not sure of the spelling)
